Selling on Tiny Farmers Market

Answers to the questions home bakers and small farms ask us most.

What does it cost to sell?

Nothing to sign up and nothing to list. There are no monthly fees.

When you make a sale, Stripe takes its card processing fee (2.9% + 30¢) out of your payout. That's the only cost to you. Buyers pay a small service fee (5% + $0.55 per order) on top of your price, so you keep the full price you set, minus Stripe's fee.

How do I get paid?

Straight to your bank account through Stripe. You connect Stripe once from your seller dashboard, and your earnings are paid out to your bank automatically on Stripe's regular payout schedule.

Are there any time commitments?

None. Sell every week, once a month or only around the holidays. You choose what you list, how many you have and when you're available.

Signing up takes about 10 minutes: create an account, open your shop, connect Stripe and add your first listing.

Do I need a food license?

Most Utah home bakers and cooks don't. Utah's Homemade Food Act lets you sell many homemade foods from your own kitchen without a license, as long as you follow its rules, like labeling your food as home produced and listing the ingredients and allergens.

Some foods aren't covered, mainly foods that have to be kept cold or hot to stay safe, like meat, many dairy products and cream-filled desserts. Those usually need a license. The Utah Department of Agriculture and Food has the full rules, and when you open a shop you confirm that you follow them.

Will my home address be public?

No. Buyers only see your zip code. Your exact pickup address and pickup instructions are shared only with a buyer after they've paid for an order.

How do pickups work?

A buyer orders and pays online. You get an email about the new order, set a pickup time from your seller dashboard, and the buyer gets your address and instructions. They swing by and grab it. No cash and no chasing payments.

What can I sell?

Homemade and homegrown food: bread, cookies, cakes, jam, salsa, eggs, produce and more. Every new listing is reviewed before it goes live.

Right now we're focused on food, so non-food items like crafts aren't allowed yet. Store-bought or resold items aren't allowed either.

What is a founding seller?

Our first 12 sellers get a Founding Seller badge on their shop and listings, plus a spot on the home page. Spots are limited, so if you're interested, open your shop and send us a message.

Ready to open your shop?

It's free, and you can be set up in about 10 minutes.

See the Seller Agreement for the full rules.
